What animal is this? It looks like a bearsheepdog.
These sorts of men-in-animal suits are neither grotesque nor hybrids. There is a realism in the photographs which exposes itself as false. We recognize this as a mask and cannot believe the representation. In drawing, or in painting, or in literature, or maybe even in sculpture, this realism is replaced by the imagination we transfer onto the work to rationalize the inconsistency of humanimal hybrids. In drawing, etc, it becomes believable because we may ignore how clearly we understand this to be a man wearing the head of an animal.
